Building The Love Shack

I laid in bed this morning thinking about what could I write about the New Year Coming. We are starting the year off in another lockdown related to Covid. The year past has been hard all over the world and the losses have been many for all.

And yet when I think of the year ahead I still see the opportunity for growth and better to come. When I look back at these past difficult two years, I see the growth we have made in the human race.

I once hated the term “The New Normal” yet if we look back at the past fifty years, all of our next years have had changes, growth, losses, and advancement. As a society, we have been living a new normal with each change or development. We as a society have changed, some for the good and some for the not-so-good.

The past two years have been hard but there have also been many new advancements. With that came a better way to do things and the opportunity to look at how we have been doing things that have not been so good. The choice to grow and adapt is ours. The choice to open our minds and our hearts is also ours.

The New Year brings 365 days of opportunity. It brings the choice of saying yes and also to say no. Both are an opportunity to grow as a person and as a society.

This past year for me, my biggest accomplishment was to learn to say No. When I learned to just say no. Not with an explanation, just no. I then learned to say no to people, to behaviors, and to stop doing things that sacrificed myself and my time, and allowed me to spend it in better ways.

No, was my biggest gift to me but also to those around me, as it also freed me to be where I really was needed and wanted to be.

My wish for each of all who reads this is to learn to say two words, Yes and No. I hope that you will personally use the next 365 days to make your world better. In doing so, you will make the world better too.
