What seems like a long, long time ago I had this friend named Dean. Every year Dean would write a Year in Review. I use to wait to read them. They were funny and sincere. Honest to fault, and would include many things about his life and his friends.
Dean is the first person who got me to write and yes, it was a Year in Review. I tried very hard to get my family to do the same. We are all over both the USA and Canada, but I never had any luck at getting them to do it.
We lost Dean some years back and in keeping with his tradition, I still do my Year in Review.
And so this years, Year in Review is about the Cottage.
2016’s Year In Review
I can’t believe this year is almost over. 2016 came and went so fast. Most of this past year was spent working on the cottage, shopping for the cottage, planning for the cottage or designing the cottage.
The Love Shack was 2016. That being said, it’s time to look back.
It started with that Easter Sunday when we just went for a drive. We were talking about finding an area we wanted to buy a cottage in. We were not planning on doing it this year. Then that lovely Easter Sunday, we spent walking by the water and meeting, what we didn’t know would be our future neighbors and friends.

Sooner than later we bought the Love Shack and took possession on May 13, 2016.

May 24, 2016. The Weekend Warriors were named and the gutting of the cottage happened with nine of us in six and half hours, we took down the walls.

And so it began with putting in sub floors.

Then framing walls.

Putting in new wiring and electoral box’s.

Adding a new water system.

The Family’s First Birthday Party was held at the Love Shack.

The Weekend Warriors got to know each other and new friendship were made. There was a party to celebrate the new friendships. And War Games were played.

Then came a Cast Iron Stove to add some heat.

Our first Thanksgiving was celebrated at the Cottage and the Bedrooms walls were up and got painted.

Then new floors went in.

Next came lighting.

And finally we had a bedroom.

Then the sad part came, we said good-bye to Coco.

We said Hello to Romeo.

It certainly was a busy ten months. A very enjoyed ten months. Thank you to 2016, for all the memorizes. And to the Love Shack, who continues to share her warmth in ways pictures or words can’t begin to describe. And to the Weekend Warriors, who make every thing a new journey.
2017 is just around the corner. I am expecting it to be another busy year, full of adventure. Mostly spent working on the Love Shack.
I would like to wish all the Readers and Followers a Happy New Year. May 2017 bring you good health and peace. And also Thank you, for your interest and your feed back in my Blog.
Happy New Year

When you flip the pages you can see how it has grown to what it is today – full of love. Wouldn’t call it a shack!

Oh it will always be the Love Shack. My kids joking call it the future Taj Mahal of the Cottages. Upon completion it will be a whole 600 square feet.
